The Maricopa County Attorney's Office announced on Wednesday the indictment of a man who is suspected of shooting a Phoenix Police officer during a traffic stop nearly two weeks ago. Jose Abel Cabrera-Somosa, 35, is accused of shooting Officer Bret Glidewell near 35th Street and Sweet water Avenue, just north of Cactus Road, on Oct. 14. Cabrera-Somosa, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador, was charged with attempted first-degree murder, a Class 2 felony, and misconduct involving weapons, a Class 4 felony, according to a press release from the County Attorney's office. Glidewell, 22, who has been on the force for seven months, was wearing a bulletproof vest at the time of the shooting and was not seriously injured. He is the fourth Valley officer to be shot this year. He has since returned to his job.
