Journal #28 Police chief's daughter to serve 24 hours in jail
An East Valley justice of the peace on Thursday tossed out two of three DUI charges against the daughter of Scottsdale Police Chief Alan Rodbell and sentenced her to 24 hours in jail. The sentence comes more than eight months after Cody Nicole Rodbell, 22, was arrested March 28 in Scottsdale for being “impaired to the slightest degree,” according to a Scottsdale police report. As part of a plea deal, Cody Rodbell pleaded guilty to one count of misdemeanor DUI and was sentenced to a 10-day jail term. But University Lakes Justice of the Peace John Ore suspended all but one day of the sentence. Rodbell is to report to jail Dec. 18 and pay $1,650 in fines and fees. Ore dismissed two other DUI counts at the request of the prosecutor. The sentencing ends the lingering DUI case that unfolded when a Scottsdale police officer stopped Cody Rodbell for speeding on Scottsdale Road and Oak Street. Her blood-alcohol content test showed 0.81 percent, just above Arizona's presumed level of intoxication of 0.081 percent.
