Journal #31 Man shot 3 times during attack at Tempe apartment

A 33-year-old Tempe man was undergoing surgery Friday morning after he was shot three times by an intruder at an apartment complex.Despite his wounds, the victim was able to call police shortly before 7 a.m. to report the shooting at the Saddle Club Apartments, 3730 S. Mill Avenue, just south of Southern Avenue, said Officer Brandon Banks, a Tempe police spokesman.Other residents had called police to report banging and then gun shots, and officers were already en route when the victim called, he said. The intruder already had fled by the time police arrived, but officers found signs of forced entry into the apartment and shell casings, Banks said."We believe this is a targeted, not random, shooting," he said. Police are searching for the suspect.
